Proemion

Let us raise glory, honor, and praise to the Living One, who by his death gave life to his creation. By his resurrection, he saved his Church, gave joy to his flock, brought us back to his Father, and enriched us with the gifts of his Spirit. To the Good One be glory and honor, on this blessed Sunday, and all the days of our lives, and forever. Amen.

Only-begotten Son, you were born of the Father before all ages, and by your creative will you separated light from darkness on this the first day of the week. You fashioned all creation to honor Adam, the image of your majesty.
We praise and thank you and celebrate proclaiming:
Blessed are you, for you appeared in the flesh on earth like us and you lived among us.
Blessed are you, for you were buried and counted among the dead, and you shined your light in the sadness of the tomb.
Blessed are you, for you rose to life, giving good hope to all, and you filled the angels with radiance, and they appeared at your tomb like flashes of lightning.
Now, O Christ, we ask you, with the fragrance of this incense, to make us worthy to rejoice in the glory of your radiant resurrection. God began to create all things
when he said: "Let there be light,"
and he saw that the light was good.
On this greatest day of days,
God created ranks of fire,
thousands of angelic hosts,
and the seraphim who cried:
"Holy, holy, holy Lord!
Blest are you, O Hidden One!"

Christ our King, at the end of time,
will return triumphantly
with his life-giving cross raised high
as the faithful sing his praise.
Those who crucified the Lord
will be put to shame that day,
and those who did not believe
will be pierced with bitter pain
when they hear the shouts of joy.

God has blessed and has glorified
Sunday as a holy day,
as the first day of all the days,
made for worship and for prayer.
Through it may our minds find joy
and our bodies be refreshed.

Glory to the Lord of Paul and the apostles! May the mercy of God descend upon the reader and the listeners and upon this parish and her children forever. Amen.

Brothers and Sisters:
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I came to you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God. Yet among the mature we do speak wisdom, though it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to perish. But we speak God’s wisdom, secret and hidden, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him"—these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

Before the proclamation of the Gospel of our Savior, announcing life for our souls, we offer this incense and ask for your mercy, O Lord.

From the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint John, who proclaimed life to the world.
Let us listen to the proclalation of life and salvation for our souls.

Remain silent, O listeners, for the Holy Gospel is about to be proclaimed to you.
Listen and give glory and thanks to the Word of the living God.

Jesus said:
"Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it. "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. "I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
